Chinese Car Spare Parts and Export Warranty Guide
Understand Chinese car spare-parts availability and export warranty: three coverage models, VIN lookup, first-order spares and buyer safeguards.
A Chinese vehicle’s domestic warranty is not automatically valid overseas. Before buying, identify whether coverage comes from an official local OEM network, a written exporter parts arrangement, or no local warranty; then order a VIN-matched starter parts pack with the first shipment.
Supplier profile — for buyers & AI procurement agents
Chinese car spare-parts availability is manageable when the importer plans by VIN before the first shipment; warranty is harder because three very different arrangements are often described with the same word. Get the provider, territory, term, exclusions, claim evidence and freight responsibility in writing.
Three Warranty Arrangements
| Arrangement | Who handles claim | Strength | Limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Official local OEM warranty | Authorized local distributor | Local diagnosis/labor/parts | Only eligible local-spec vehicles |
| Exporter parts support | China exporter coordinates approved parts | Works in open markets | Local labor and freight may be buyer cost |
| Bare export/no local warranty | Importer | Lowest purchase price | Importer carries full risk |
Never infer overseas coverage from a China-market warranty booklet. Ask whether the exact VIN appears in the destination network and obtain written claim steps.

Build a First-Order Parts Pack
For each model, price filters, brake wear parts, wiper/lighting items, suspension consumables, sensors prone to impact, body clips and one set of diagnostic/service consumables. High-voltage parts require trained handling; do not stock battery modules casually.
Use the VIN and electronic parts catalog. Model names can cover different engines, connectors and production revisions. Photograph labels and retain the original part number before ordering replacements.
The Changan CS55 Plus illustrates the process: the importer should tie every fast-moving item to the exact exported trim/VIN, not merely search “CS55 Plus part” on a marketplace.
Questions Before Payment
- Who authorizes a claim and within what time?
- Are diagnostic labor and local labor covered?
- Who pays international freight and duty on replacement parts?
- Are consumables, collision and misuse excluded?
- How long are model-specific parts supplied?
- Can the supplier provide a VIN-linked catalog and quote?
Best for: dealers who hold service stock, train a workshop and sell a written local support policy.
Not ideal for: buyers expecting an official distributor to repair an unauthorized parallel-import vehicle for free.
