Mazda3 Axela
Why this model
What makes the Mazda3 Axela worth importing
Conventional automatic, not a CVT
Mazda uses a six-speed torque-converter automatic rather than a CVT. In markets where CVT servicing expertise is thin or buyers distrust them, that is a genuine advantage.
Manual gearbox available
A six-speed manual is offered on both engines — increasingly rare, and valued in markets where manual transmissions remain preferred.
Mazda's driving reputation
The Mazda3 has consistently been rated the best-handling car in its class. For buyers who care how a car feels rather than only what it costs, that reputation sells itself.
Naturally aspirated Skyactiv engines
No turbocharger means fewer components to fail and simpler servicing — practical advantages in markets with limited workshop sophistication or poor fuel quality.
Specifications
Mazda3 Axela technical data
Manufacturer figures for the China-market car. Equipment and certification vary by trim, production batch and destination — we confirm the exact build sheet before the order is placed.

| 2.0L Skyactiv-G petrol ICE · 6-speed manual / 6-speed automatic | 116 kW158 PS | — | — | — | FWD |
A dash means the manufacturer does not publish that figure for this version — we do not estimate it. Range standards differ: CLTC and NEDC read higher than WLTP for the same car, so compare like with like when quoting against a European rival.

About this model
Where the Mazda3 Axela sits in the market
The Mazda3, sold in China as the Axela, is built by the Changan Mazda joint venture with naturally aspirated 1.5 and 2.0-litre Skyactiv petrol engines producing 117 and 158 hp, through a six-speed manual or a conventional six-speed automatic.
Two things distinguish it commercially. Mazda uses a torque-converter automatic rather than a CVT, which matters in markets where CVT reliability or servicing is a concern. And the Mazda3 has a long-standing reputation as the best-handling car in its class — a genuine differentiator against the Corolla and Civic for buyers who care. The engines are naturally aspirated, which means simpler servicing and better tolerance of variable fuel quality. It is a China-market car, so parallel export applies.
Built in China by the Changan Mazda joint venture (formerly FAW-Mazda). Sold as the Axela in China, the Mazda3 elsewhere.
Before you order
What an importer must know about the Mazda3 Axela
LHD; right-hand-drive China-built cars are not documented, though Mazda builds RHD Mazda3 elsewhere. Mazda does not export the Chinese Axela officially, so parallel-export applies with no dealer warranty. Mazda builds the Mazda3 in Japan, Mexico and Thailand as well, so compare landed cost and duty across origins — for many destinations another origin will be officially supported and may land at similar cost. The manual gearbox must be specified explicitly, as automatic is the default.
Market fit
Where the Mazda3 Axela sells
Based on documented export presence and how the vehicle suits local conditions — not a guarantee of homologation, which we confirm per market before you order.

Southeast Asia
Strong regional Mazda brand standing and compact sedans are a core segment.
Central Asia
Compact sedan demand where the conventional automatic and simple engines suit local servicing capability.
Latin America
Compact sedan is the volume segment and Mazda's driving reputation differentiates it from Japanese rivals.
