The AITO M5 is the model that launched Huawei's automotive partnership with Seres — a 4,785 mm mid-size SUV on a 2,880 mm wheelbase, offered as a range-extender with a 40 kWh CATL pack and up to 1,440 km CLTC total range, or as a battery-electric car with an 83 kWh pack rated 620 km CLTC. The dual-motor version produces 365 kW and 720 Nm, reaching 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds.

Huawei's involvement is the point: HarmonyOS in the cabin and the ADS driver-assistance system, the software stack Chinese buyers rate above anything domestic rivals offer. Huawei branding is removed on export versions for commercial and regulatory reasons. For you it means an existing homologation route may already exist near your market — worth checking before starting certification from scratch.

Range-extender or battery-electric? +

The range-extender in most export markets. It gives up to 1,440 km CLTC total range with the engine acting purely as a generator, so the car always drives as an electric vehicle but never depends on a charger. The 83 kWh battery-electric version at 620 km CLTC is better where charging is reliable and running cost is the priority. In practice the range-extender is the easier sale almost everywhere outside major cities.

What does Huawei actually contribute? +

The HarmonyOS cabin software, the ADS driver-assistance system, and on later models the electric drive units. Huawei does not build the car — Seres does — but the software and electronics are Huawei's, and that is what distinguishes these vehicles in China.
